Take back your time, without quitting your apps.
A few minutes of Instagram every hour, not a daily lockout. When time runs out, more arrives at the top of the next hour.
Precursor blocks the app. Your limit resets the next hour.
Drag through the deck to see how it works.

Choose your apps
Group the apps that pull at you and pick an allowance. 5 min of Social each hour, resets on the hour.
Spend it your way
One scroll or five short checks, your call. When the minutes run out, the app gently blocks. Instagram can wait.
More time at the top of the hour
Every hour is a fresh start, so there is no reason to bypass your limits. Guilt does not change habits. Fresh starts do.
Set how strict it feels. Set when it runs.
Three limit modes
Easy blocks the app and still lets you wave the block away. Normal blocks it and lets you ask for more time, up to five stops a day. Hard blocks it and gives you one stop a day. Pick per group, change any time.
More time, honestly priced
Normal mode keeps a way through, and makes you mean it. Write a real reason, then hold the button until the minutes come back. Each ask holds longer than the one before it.
Schedules that fit your week
Choose the days your limits run, so weekdays can be stricter than weekends. With Precursor+, choose the hours of the day too. Outside those hours the apps are free to use.
Parent Mode
For a parent helping someone practice moderation on their own phone. The passcode becomes required, and a security question you choose replaces the 24 hour reset wait. Uninstall protection can hide Delete App from the home screen while it is on.
How much time would you take back?
An hourly allowance is a few minutes that come back every hour. Pick one and see what it returns.
back every year
Averages: 2h 16m/day social media, US adults (GWI via DataReportal, 2025); per-app minutes from eMarketer, 2025. Most scrolling happens in the evening; the math accounts for that. Full math and sources on the calculator page.
See a year of it, and what fits inside →The hourly limit is free. Always.
Free covers the whole mechanic: hourly limits, three app groups, all three limit modes, day of the week scheduling, the passcode, and the written reason Precursor asks for before you stop. Precursor+ is for people who want more flexibility with their time limits.
Precursor+ is available as a subscription or as a one-time Lifetime purchase. Current prices, trials and any offers are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy, and they can change over time. Lifetime is a one-time purchase, it does not renew, and it covers this app on the store you bought it from. What Lifetime means, in full.
